  • Master Series 1 - Superman vs West Side Story

    The iconic red cape of Superman is transformed into the garb of a dancer as we open with this modern take on the Argentinian tango and the guitar returns as soloist in the Spanish-flavored favorite Concierto de Aranjuez.  From this colorful first half, lush and brilliant orchestration prevails in two tragic stories of young love, first in Wagner's story of the young lovers Tristan and Isolde and Bernstein's captivating suite on his own version of young love from West Side Story.
  • Master Series 2 - A Night at the Opera and Beethoven’s Fifth

    Tenor Gordon Gietz returns with soprano D'Ana Lombard is a first half of operatic arias and musical theater songs from Dvorak and Donizetti to Gershwin and Sartori. The second half brings us perhaps the most well-known symphony with the most familiar first four-notes of any piece ever written, composed by the great Ludwig van!!

  • Master Series 3 - POPS

    Masters of the perfect blend of pop rock and jazz fusion, R&B and psychedelic rock, and many other variations, BS&T has blurred the lines with its ever-changing formula of music, blending the traditional rock band with jazzy brass instruments.  The Grammy Hall of Fame members bring their string of top hits to the Victoria stage with backup by the Victoria Symphony Orchestra!

  • Master Series 4 - The Romantic Fourth

    Although Tchaikovsky's operas have not become top audience favorites, many of the overtures and incidental music has such as his energetic Polonaise from his opera Eugene Onegin which begins this concert followed by the return of Jose Franch Ballester to play Mozart's popular Clarinet Concerto.  The second half brings us to the great symphonist Anton Bruckner who wrote nine symphonies.  We will perform his most well-known symphony subtitled "the Romantic".  

  • Master Series 5 - Pictures at an Exhibition and the Cliburn Project

    Chicago Symphony Composer-in-Residence Mason Bates begins this concert with a zippy fanfare entitled "Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release" followed by the second installment of the Cliburn Project featuring gold-medalist Vadym Kholodenko in Brahm's Piano Concerto #2.   The second half brings us Mussorgsky's colorful and evocative piano piece transformed by the brilliant orchestration of French composer Maurice Ravel into this extremely popular rendition of this melodious tour-de-force!
